Michael Smithson, senior partner at Smithson Law Firm LLP, this weekend took part in Handelsbanken’s annual Coast-to-Coast Charity Cycle Ride, which raised £10,000 for cancer charities Marie Curie Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Michael Smithson put his life on the line as well as exposing himself to potential humiliation, but came in third out of the ride’s fourteen participants. He said, “I was been invited by Svenska Handlesbanken (my practice bankers) to participate in the above event, which is a little strange as I have assidulously avoided any exercise since leaving school… many years ago!

“I would like to thank Handelsbanken, who kindly provided all back up and accommodation, as well as other expenses, on the basis that all 14 participants would be able to raise funds for the two above very worthy causes. Most of all, a big thank you goes to everyone who pledged sponsorship money.”
